New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (NYSAND) News
NYSAND is seeking concise snapshots of your MNT Success stories to share in a social media and grassroots lobbying campaign. Think of these stories as "MN-Tweets" and try to keep them as direct as possible. We want to demonstrate the outcomes of MNT to these decision-makers and hearing directly from you is important! These stories or snapshots of your successes can include positive outcomes or patient/client testimonials (**no PHI). This effort by NYSAND is to engage and show NYS Legislators that dietitians are vital to the healthcare continuum. Access the MNT and Me Form Here.
News from Syracuse University
"Syracuse University offered its first nutrition courses in 1917, which means we have been educating future food and nutrition professionals for over 100 years. Over the last century, nutrition education needs have evolved, and so have our nutrition programs. On campus, students benefit from hands-on learning in culinary labs working with experts in nutrition, food policy and public health. Our Nutrition Assessment, Consultation and Education (ACE) Center prepares students with traditional and emerging professional competencies critical to effective nutrition practice. A purposefully outfitted demonstration kitchen supports our integrative nutrition curriculum, which uses food as medicine to support disease treatment. Off campus, dietetic interns prepare for careers in dietetics working with dietitians in various settings."
Our graduate programs include:
Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Nutrition Science;
Certificate of Advanced Study: Dietetic Internship;
Certificate of Advanced Study: Integrative and Functional Nutrition (NEW)

How Do I Advocate for Nutrition and Dietetics?
We are sending this Action Alert on behalf of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. Make your voice heard and take action today!
Fight for Crucial Nutrition Programs Funding:
The Academy advocates for funding for federal programs that help people live a healthy life during the annual appropriations process. Your voice matters - members of Congress need to hear from Academy members on these important issues. The appropriations process is the time for us to use our collective voice to ensure funding for nutrition programs that impact our profession and communities.
Take action today and urge your legislators to prioritize nutrition in the FY2022 appropriations process.
Fight for Emergency Coronavirus Relief Act:
On December 14, a bipartisan, bicameral group of legislators released language for the Emergency Coronavirus Relief Act, which includes critical provisions to address rising food insecurity, health disparities and economic distress as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency. Thanks to the ongoing advocacy work of members like you, many of the Academy’s policy priorities have been included in the bill. Take action today and tell your members of Congress to pass this much-needed stimulus package before they leave town for the holiday recess.
