Nutrition & Fitness Apps- Which are best?
I recently tried out several nutrition and fitness apps to see how they compare. Each had slightly different things to offer and two really stood out! See quick reviews on each below:
Best for quick food database search for calories & macronutrients. Do not need to sign up or have user name & password. Cannot add list of favorite foods or save foods. Great for use in diabetes for carb counting when you do not want to log foods.Only available on Apple devices. Rated 3.5 in the Apple app store. Some complaints that the food database is not up to date were noted in reviews. Can upgrade for a small fee to remove advertisements.
My Fitness Pal*
Searchable food database, no problems finding any foods! Food & exercise diary, weight tracking, barcode to scan UPC on food packaging, and recipes analyzed within app. Need to sign up for an account. Available on Apple or Android devices. Ability to upgrade for more features including macronutrient distribution, add free, food analysis graphs, and more for $49.99/yr. Can sync with Fitbit tracker app, but was it unsuccessful when I personally tried. Can sync with Apple Health app too. Rated 4 out of 5 in the Apple app store.
